Frequently Asked Questions

Below are answers to some frequently asked questions. Please do not hesitate to CONTACT US if you have any others.

1. How much does a cake cost ?

The cost of our cakes depends on the design, the expected number of guests the cake should feed and the flavours.

Celebration cakes cost from Le650,000 for a size that would feed approximately 20 guests.

Wedding cake prices start from Le7,800,000 for a three tiered cake that would feed approximately 200 guests.

2. What does the wedding cake consultation involve?

If you’re unfamiliar with the taste of our cakes, we recommend a cake tasting so you can have peace of mind that your cake will taste as good as it looks on your big day.

A wedding cake consultation not only  involves an in depth discussion on the design of your cake, but also provides an opportunity to ask questions regarding flavours and fillings, price of the cake, provision of accessories, delivery details etc.

Consultation appointments normally last about an hour, during which you’ll try at least three flavours and fillings from our available range. This costs le50,000 per head, the total of which will be deducted from the cost of your wedding cake when you’re placing the order.

Appointments are available between Wednesday and Friday  2-6pm and on limited saturdays subject to availability.

Please kindly note that we recommend booking as far in advance as possible as we do book up quickly.

3. When or how do we order our cakes?

We need a minimum of 36 hours notice for cupcakes, a week’s notice for celebration cakes.

Novelty cakes are very time consuming  to create plus theres a possibility we might need to order some extra items required to complete the cake if your design is particularly complex, so please give us at least three weeks notice.

We generally need a minimum of three months notice for sponge flavoured wedding cakes as we get booked up pretty quickly for wedding season.

If you require a fruit cake we would require a minimum of 6 months notice as the fruit needs to be pre soaked in rum, months before the big day.

4. Portions and Pricing

The final price depends on the size and design and cakes with more elaborate decorations will fall at the higher end of the price range.

Single tier fondant cake prices start from Le650,000 for a  8ins cake that feeds approximately 15-20 portions depending on the size of the cut.

A 10ins cake size feeds approximately 40-50 and is priced from Le950,000

5. Delivery and Collections

Cakes are fragile so we are more than happy to deliver within a 4-5 hour window or you can elect to pickup from the shop.

Celebration cake deliveries range from Le150,000 upwards depending on the distance to delivery destination.

Wedding cakes delivery and set up starts from Le750,000 within the Freetown municipality, depending on the venue destination. This wedding cake setup price includes us providing the cake stand, knife and server and in some cases a non personalised topper.

Orders are only confirmed once we have received a deposit or full payment.

We accept cash payment instore. Alternatively, Orange money or bank transfers ( UK and USA accounts available for direct deposits).

7. How long do your cakes keep? How best can I store them?

In the rare occurrence that your cake isnt gobbled up right away, you can keep cupcakes in their box for a couple more days or uncut big cakes for at least three more days at room temperature. Wrap cut cakes in cling film and keep in an airtight container to keep them soft.

Please DO NOT store your cakes in a refrigerator as it sucks out the moisture from the cake and dries it out. Left over cakes are best enjoyed at room temperature up to three days after which all uneaten cake must be kept in the freezer for up to three months.

8. Do you have cake stands and accessories for hire?

The cost of your wedding cake comes with a cake stand, cake knife and server and a non personalised cake topper. This deal is only applicable if we are delivering and setting up the cake. If you elect to pickup your wedding cake, it is your responsibility to sort out accessories at an extra cost.

We have a range of cupcake and base stands plus knives and servers available for rent at reasonable prices. A refundable deposit is required before the items can leave our shop.

9. Minimum Order Requirements

As everything is baked fresh, we’re unable to produce small orders of just a few cupcakes or a 6ins cake as this is not economically viable.

Our minimum order for cupcakes is 12 (1 dozen)

Mini cupcakes is 60 (5 dozen)

Cake loaf – minimum quantity 6

10. Allergens

All of our products are made in a kitchen that handles nuts, and all of our cakes contains eggs and dairy. Please be aware of this if you have a sensitive allergy.

For any specific allergen enquiries, please feel free to contact us.

11. If I bring you a photo of a cake, can you make it?

We cannot recreate cakes exactly as any photo. All cake creations are works of art and each decorator is an artist; we all have our own different and unique styles, tools and methods of creating custom cakes. We will use any photos you provide us as an inspiration when creating your dream cake, however we would ask that you give us creative licence to put our own stamp on the design and make it uniquely yours.

12. What if I prefer a different flavour to my fiance? Can we have both? Can I get a different flavoured filling for each tier of my cake?

You may get different flavours for each tier; in fact you can have whatever your heart desires! Depending on how many guests you are catering for you can usually have 3 flavours or more! Each tier can be a totally different flavour.  You can even have the top  tier of your wedding cake to keep and take with you on your honeymoon.

13. Can I just stop by to purchase some cupcakes or other baked goods?

No, we only bake to order and every order needs to be placed in advance. Cupcakes require a minimum of 36 hours notice and celebration cakes a week’s notice.
